According to grapevine, Regina Cassandra will play the lead opposite Rana. In a report by Times of India, Regina was quoted saying that the film is set in the 1940s at the height of the Indian freedom struggle. Talking about her character, Regina said, “I play a simple Chettiar girl. So throughout the film, you’ll see me wearing sari with minimal make-up. I’ve completed shooting a couple of sequences for the film in Chennai and Kochi and it has been fun to say the least. It’s a very nuanced character.”

The shooting of ‘1945’ is currently underway in Karaikudi. The project is being helmed by Satyasiva. Rana, who is currently busy in the filming of ‘Baahubali 2’, will also be seen in a submarine based war film ‘Ghazi’.
