    Southern actress Manjula Vijayakumar breathes her last today at 60

    A gloomy day has arrived in the arena of films as veteran actress 60-year-old Manjula Vijayakumar, who has worked in more than 100 films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, has passed away due to a stomach injury. The injury happened after she fell from her bed early morning today and was rushed to a hospital immediately. As the blood clot in her stomach could not be cleared by doctors, the actress died a few minutes ago.

    Manjula, the yesteryear super-heroine, debuted with Shanti Nilayam in 1969 as a supporting actress and shot to stardom with her first lead role in Rickshawkaran in 1971. She was a popular face in the late seventies and since the late 80s she used to appear in supporting roles mostly. Manjula has shared screen space with Southern superstars likeNTR, ANR, Shobhan Babu, Krishna in Telugu, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, M. G. Ramachandran, Kamal Hassanand Rajinikanth in Tamil and Vishnuvardhanin Kannada. Manjula is survived by her husband Vijay Kumar and three daughters. May her soul rest in peace.
