SS Rajamouli: Stories That Our Grandmothers Told Us Wern’t Embellished With Artifice

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, whose last epic film Baahubali 2- The Conclusion became the first highest grossing Indian cinema has been off the platform for a while now. And it seems the filmmaker is happy to do nothing at present. He said that there’s no anxiety to get back to filmmaking for him right now as he knows that he can start as soon as he is ready.

When asked by a leading daily, why Rajamouli thought Baahubali would work in this day and age, the filmmaker said, “I believe that the stories that our grandmothers told us were the most interesting. Why do we still cherish those stories? Because they were innocent and heartfelt, not embellished with artifice”.

Moreover, talking about his plan of making Mahabharata, the filmmaker said that he has heard about the same project taken up by Amir Khan, however, he said that Mahabharat is open to so many interpretations and it doesn’t matter how many times we revisit. Further, with a down to earth nature, even after giving a super blockbuster film, Rajamouli lives in a two-room flat.
