From Thailand with love: Thai actress Chatcha Patumthip debuts in Tollywood

Tollywood is known for sizzling actresses, exotic dance moves and entry of non-Indian ladies. Tinsel town’s latest import happens to be Thai actress Chatcha Patumthip. The actress has been roped in to play one of the lead roles in Nagesh Naradasi's Boom Boom.

"I never thought that I would act in a Telugu film and it came as a big surprise when Nagesh showed interest to cast me as one of the lead characters," Chatcha said.

Chatcha has been working with Thai film industry for over a decade now. "I graduated with a degree in architecture; however, I am extremely passionate about films and I really want to direct one in future. In the meantime, I wanted to act and work behind the scenes to gain experience and so, I began acting in films when I turned 19. Since I attend plenty of auditions, several casting directors had my portfolio and that's how Nagesh spotted me," she added.

Chatcha will be playing the role of a Thai girl, whose life goes through a remarkable change after a Telugu boy falls in love with her. "Thing is, these two characters don't speak the same language and that was the fun part of the role. I could relate a lot to it because I can't understand a word of Telugu. My co-star, Bharat helped me a lot and Nagesh taught me how to act in Indian style," Chatcha shares.

Talking about the difference of styles in Indian films and Thai movies, "I have been a part of few international films which were shot in Thailand and learnt the nuances of acting. When it comes to Indian style, there's a lot more emphasis on facial expressions and body language. It's difficult to adapt myself to it instantly, and honestly, I don't know if I have done a good job (laughs). But the most interesting part was dancing to a Telugu song. It turned out to be more difficult than what it seemed in the beginning. Finally, the choreographer understood my problem and changed the dance moves (laughs). I'm curious to see how people react to my role in the film."
