The Filmfare Award winning actress Trisha Krishnan has been given the title of the Most Dangerous Celebrity online in Tamil Nadu. A study was conducted by an online security technology company, McAfee. They found out that 80 virus-infected sites carry the name of the actress.

The research was focussed onTamilculture's most famous peopleincludingsportsmen, actors and politicians. The research was done to create a ranking of the Most Dangerous Celebrity based on the celebrities’ online risk quotient. The entire study highlights the tendency of cyber criminals who use several celebrity names to harm those fans who seek more data on their idols. Trisha’s name as the highest risk factor is followed by nine other Southern celebrities like Arya, Suriya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vijay, Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, Shriya Saran, Rajinikanth and Dhanush.

These harmful sites often steal passwords and personal information of their visitors. Vice-president of engineering- consumer and mobile, Business Group, McAfee India Centre, Venkatasubrahmanyam Krishnapur commented about the study findings, "In India where celebrities are given the status of demi gods, cyber criminals often use their names to lure people to sites that actually host malicious software designed to compromise personal details and disrupt devices. By including the names of popular celebrities in a website's search tags, cyber criminals are able to direct more visitors to malicious sites where they may unwittingly sign up for spam or harmful spyware ending up with malware ridden devices."
