English Vinglish, the comeback film of senior actress Sridevi, is making all the right noises from its first look being appreciated by all to getting an standing ovation at the Toronto Film Festival recently. According to reports,English Vinglishwas an outright winner at the Toronto Film Festival's prestigious 'Gala' section on Friday evening. “We got a standing ovation for ten minutes after the premiere," said producer R. Balki whose wife Gauri Shinde is debuting as a director with this film. "The local media just can't stop praising Sridevi and Gauri. They are comparing Sri with Meryl Streep. She is just taking it all in so modestly," he added. However, he missed the presence of Big B, who is doing a cameo in the film, at the event. "I truly wish Mr. Bachchan was here with us in Toronto. He has a 5-minute cameo with Sri. But the impact he makes is amazing. Everyone is asking about him". According to sources, Sridevi along with hubby Boney Kapoor, Balki and Gauri were also invited for tea by the premiere of the Ontario province, Dalton McGuinty, when they were in Canada for the film festival.
