Not many know that the hardworking actress did not have to struggle much to begin her modelling career. While shopping at a mall in Bangalore, well-known fashion designer Wendell Rodricks spotted her at a denim shop and she got her first break as a model!

Brought up in Bengaluru, Anushka was born in Ayodhya to an Army officer father and a homemaker mother, Anushka grew up in different parts of India, thanks to her father's postings.

In an Interview with Times Of India, Anushka Sharma told she was a school topper!

But after getting a break as a model, she never wanted to be an actress. She just wanted to be a successful model.

She had never planned to be a model or an actress and her initial choice of career was journalism.

Anushka is also pursuing her Masters in Economics through correspondence.

Anushka had a dream Bollywood debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She was well appreciated by everyone, however little known to people that she had her own set of struggles to achieve this feat. According to reports, she took a day to prepare for her screen test for YRF's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and refused to do an impromptu one. She was even told by Aditya Chopra that she was not the best-looking girl around but that she was talented.

Anushka has also gone on record to say that she loves attention. In an interview with Indiatoday.in, “I am not spoilt as I was brought up in an army background. But every actor is an attention-seeker. It is an occupational hazard for us. If I don’t seek attention, I will not be doing my work well.".

Cricket and Anushka Sharma go back a long way. Her brother was a state-level cricket player.

Anushka Sharma is the only actress to be directed by both father Yash and son Aditya Chopra in Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Only Shah Rukh Khan had that privilege before her.

In December 2014, Anuhska Sharma auctioned the leather jacket she wore in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ on eBay, with proceeds going to the redevelopment of the flood-ravaged states of Kashmir and Assam.

Interestingly, though Anushka was highly appreciated for her performances in films like Band Baaja Baraat and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she never won a Filmfare award for the two films, in spite of being nominated. She has only won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Jab Tak Hain Jaan.
