Moon Knight review - Oscar Isaac stars in an intense and engaging start to a new franchise

The first episode of the six-part series Moon Knight is finally out and the show starts off with a good start. The episode is really engaging and a bit dark perhaps more than any show in MCU , which is a good thing. The MCU has a reputation of holding back not being the too edgy, a problem they have been addressing and it seems that Moon Knight might be the solution.

When I say that the show is dark it doesn't mean something on the same wavelength as Netflix 's Marvel shows like Daredevil or Punisher.

With Moon Knight, however, show creator Jeremy Slater and director Mohamed Diab do things in their own way and it ends up working.

The show follows mild-mannered Steven Grant who works in the gift shop of the London Museum and dreams of one day being a tour guide for the Egyptian exhibit.

Steven believes that he suffers from a sleepwalking disorder as he often wakes up in random locations, so he takes extra precautions every night by tying himself in bed and with extra locks on his door. But when one day he wakes up in a remote town somewhere in Europe with cultist's trying to kill him, Grant soon releases that things are not as they seem.

What is dark about the show is the situation that which the character of Steven Grant finds himself the brilliant performance by Oscar Isaac makes you genuinely care for and feel bad for Grant as he believes he is losing his mind

as the audience, we are aware that this is a superhero show and the trailers have already told us about Grant's disorder but despite this, the actor conveys with ease the helplessness that the character feels and manages to create empathy for Grant in the first episode.

Ethan Hawke as the charismatic cult leader Arthur Harrow is the exact opposite of Steven Grant and has a way of being in control of every situation with his calm demeanor, both actors share great chemistry and it is always engaging to watch them share the screen time together.

as far negatives are considered some of the music choices don't really work and feels like t is trying too hard to recreate what James Gunn did with Guardians of the Galaxy and Oscar Isaac's English accent is pretty bad now this could be done on purpose and its too early to say, besides the actor has defended his choice with the accent and said it works with what they are trying to do with the show.

So our all Moon Knight is off to a good start, the second episode will stream on Disney+ on April 6
