The Boys Episode 6 'Herogasm' Review - An exhilarating and fun-filled ride from beginning to end

Every time I think about how the Eric Kripe and the team working on The Boys can possibly outdo themselves, they come up with something even crazier.

The sixth episode called Herogasm has Butcher and Hughie agree to help Soldier Boy track down his old Payback teammates - beginning with the TNT Twins.

Meanwhile, Homelander is dealing with the fact that Soldier Boy is back.

This season had been teasing a showdown between the two and we do get it, it reminded me a bit of the fight between Stormfront and the team in the previous season.

As the title of the episode suggests the movie does involve a superhero orgy, while there are a lot of fun jokes and plenty of depravity happening in the episode, the showrunners do it in a tasteful way and do tone it down when compared to the source material.

The episode has plenty of humor but it s balanced out by some strong character devolvement mainly Mother's Miland the trauma he suffered as a child and Frenchie and Kimiko dealing with their troubles with the Russian Mafia.

Jason Ackles as Soldier Boy is perfect and his performance adds some humanity to the role especially when is interacting with Hughie and makes you realize that despite being an ego manic with zero consideration about hurting civilians Soldier Boy actually believes he is working to make the world better.

This is interesting when compared to Hughie's transformation from someone who always takes the high road into someone who will do whatever it takes to stop Homelander.

The episode ends with Starlight quitting her job as a superhero and revealing to the world that The seven are corrupt and Homelander is evil.

Something that is sure to have huge ramifications in the last two episodes.

So the sixth episode is fun, wacky, and emotional, and it does do a terrific job in setting up the two remaining episodes.

The Boys is streaming now on Amazon Prime.
