Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu to be an image makeover for Amazon Prime Video after Tandav? Here’s what we know

Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar has been one of the busiest bees in the last one year with back to back shooting schedules and exciting film releases. While cop drama Sooryavanshi turned out to be a hit at the box office and his performance was lauded in Atrangi Re , sadly his last two releases were not successful. Bachchhan Paandey failed miserably whereas Samrat Prithviraj became a major box office disaster. Nevertheless, fans have very high expectations from his next outing, titled Ram Setu .

Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha , the action-adventure drama film will be taking the OTT route with Amazon Prime Video , after releasing in theatres. Well, a report shared by Bollywood Life has now revealed that Ram Setu might be serving as an image makeover for the streaming platform after the backlash it received from a section of the country for Ali Abbas Zafar ’s political thriller series Tandav. Starring Saif Ali Khan , Sunil Grover, Dimple Kapadia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Gauahar Khan, the show was accused of hurting religious sentiments of Hindus.

Well, the report has further revealed the plot of the film. According to sources, Ram Setu is a celebration of India’s roots, spiritual beliefs and faith. Akshay’s archeologist character will apparently set out to unearth mythological artifacts of our culture, which go back to days of Ramayana and Mahabharata. In the film, the superstar will ‘pronounce the glory of the country to the world’. Now that sounds exciting and will hopefully be a treat for all sections of our society!

Helmed by Abhishek Sharma, the film will arrive on the silver screen on Diwali this year ahead of its digital release.
