Batgirl directors call the movie 'A spaghetti of Multiverses' and that 'It’s gonna be Delicious'

Batgirl is one of the most talked about movies in the DC lineup, mainly because it contains elements from different universes.

We have Michael Keaton who played Batman in Tim Burton's Batman movies from the 90s and we have J.K Simmons Who played Commissioner Gordon in the Snyderverse.

So where exactly Batgirl fits into is a mystery and it seems directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah don't have an answer to that question either.

In a recent interview with The Direct, they spoke about the project and where the movie fits within the DCEU .

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah who are fresh of the success of Ms. Marvel are hoping to repeat it with Batgirl as well.

There is a lot of speculation regarding the release date of the movie because of DC's current trend of pushing back release date on their upcoming movies.

"Well you know, we’d sort of give the same answer, because we would also ask, 'Oh, you have J.K. Simmons from the Snyderverse and we got Michael Keaton from the Burton-verse. What’s the situation there?’ And they would say, ‘Don’t worry about it. We got a plan.’ They never really explained that aspect to us, but I guess you’re gonna have to see the other movies to understand what happens, why the reason is that we ended up in sort of a spaghetti of Multiverses in that aspect. It’s gonna be a delicious spaghetti, I’m sure of that.”

They also spoke about the darker tone of the movie and how it is a homage to critically praised animated Batman series.

They also spoke about how Barbara Gordon's origin story will be a lot different from Ms. Marvel

"Well, the thing is that it's also an origin story, but obviously, Batgirl is in Gotham City, so it's going to be much darker than Ms. Marvel, and our main character is older. I mean, she's not a teenager, she already has a job. But I think that we're still going to try to have the same visual vibrancy that is our trademark, you could say, and homages to the comic book, homages also to the animated series of Batman, and the Tim Burton movies. So that's what we're trying to do with that, but obviously, it's going to be a bit darker than Ms. Marvel's world."

Initially, the movie was set to stream on HBO Max this year but now there are rumors that it has been pushed back to 2023.

This could be because the movie is connected in some way to The Flash movie and because of Ezra Miller's legal issues, it is not clear when the movie will come out.

Hopefully, the issue regarding Batgirl's release will be sorted out in the coming months and we finally get to see Batgirl make her DCEU debut.

Batgirl stars Leslie Grace , J. K. Simmons, Jacob Scipio, Brendan Fraser, Michael Keaton, and Ethan Kai.
