Will Smith went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor and apologized to The Academy and his fellow nominees for his actions but not to Chris Rock, the academy responded to the incident via Twitter.

Many people have come to the defense of the comedian and blamed The Academy for not taking action against the actor for the incident and also to take back the award.
