The trailer of Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur ’s Disney+ Hotstar series, The Night Manager finally released today (January 20). The show is a Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed Hollywood series of the same name starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. While Anil steps into the shoes of Hugh’s character Richard Dicky Roper, Aditya plays the titular character Jonathan Pine that was essayed by Tom in the original show.

Talking about the trailer, it first starts with Aditya’s character Shaan Sengupta walking in a stranded desert-like area hinting at how he goes into a dark side. Next, we see Anil Kapoor’s character Shelly Rungta who is presumably a gangster or a mafia and can be heard saying that he is invincible and that the police officials cannot catch him. We see Tilottama Shome ’s character appointing Aditya as The Night Manager to purposely get close to Rungta so that the latter can get caught by the police authorities.

We also see Shobhita Dhulipala ’s character who seems to be playing Rungta’s wife or girlfriend but later gets attracted to Aditya as the trailer progresses. Saswata Chatterjee’s character seems to be playing Kapoor’s right-hand man who is suspicious of Aditya’s character. There soon beings a cat-and-mouse chase between the two lead characters amidst a web of betrayal, lies, and a lurking danger. Take a look at the trailer.

The netizens rather had a mixed reaction to the trailer. While some found Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor’s performances to be impressive on the same, others were miffed to see yet another remake of a Hollywood series. One of the netizens stated, “Why do we have to remake another Hollywood series? Is Bollywood running out of content?” But a fan said, “Remake or not. What does it matter? We have a movie industry called Bollywood. And they represent us. That's why we need to support them. What are they missing from Hollywood? Nothing. Even Aditya and Anil are both very talented actors. Stop boycotting Bollywood. Support and encourage them to make good movies.”

The series will be released on February 17, 2023. It has been directed by Sandeep Modi. Tilottama Shome and Shobita Dhulipala will be presumably playing the roles of Olivia Coleman and Elizabeth Debicki from the original series.
