Payal Rohatgi emerged as the first runner-up of Kangana Ranaut ’s controversial reality show Lock Upp and was defeated by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui in the race to the trophy. A few hours after the finale, Payal had shared Munawar’s throwback controversial videos where he can be seen cracking jokes on the song ‘Mera Piya Ghar Aya’ with reference to Lord Rama along with the Godhra riots. Payal furthermore took a dig at Munawar for being crowned as the winner despite making jokes allegedly on the Hindu Gods and riots. While she was criticized by some netizens for the same, now the actress-model has revealed the reason behind her sharing the same.

Talking to Etimes about the same, she highlighted the FIR that was filed on Munawar Faruqui for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Payal Rohatgi said, “I posted a video of the Lock Upp’s winner on my Instagram account because he did standup on my videos during the finale. I wanted him to understand ke unka bhi ek video hai joh ek fan ne post kiya tha and I shared it. I would like to clarify that there has been no FIR on me for hurting religious sentiments which has been done on the winner of Lock Upp. So, sadly people think I do it but people should have this much understanding that I’ve never commented on something like this.”

Payal Rohatgi added that she is against being portrayed as being radical towards a particular community. The 36 China Town actress said, “I just keep my opinion on the news which as an Indian I have the full right if I talk about Farmers protest, triple talaq, Article 370. If you don’t want to agree with my opinion that’s fine but you can’t keep portraying me as radical. I was closest to Azma on the show and I would have not fought for her with Zeeshan if I had anything against the religion. I intervened in the fight because she was getting physically assaulted and none of the men stopped Zeeshan. It was sending out the wrong message to people outside.”

She furthermore revealed that she needs to figure some things out after coming back from a reality show before she enters marital bliss with beau Sangram Singh.
