Secret Invasion Trailer marks the return of Nick Fury in this gripping spy thriller

Marvel Studios dropped the first trailer for Secret Invasion at D23 , it promises to be vastly different from anything we have seen in the MCU .

The trailer sets up the show as more of a spy thriller similar to the Jason Bourne series than a superhero action flick, this approach is different from the comics, in which The Avengers took on the Skrull in an all-out war.

In the trailer we see Nick Fury meets up with Maria Hill, with Hill accusing Fury of abandoning the people of Earth, it is clear that Nick Fury is the only one who knows the actual threat of the Skrull.

Secret Invasion boasts an ensemble cast of A-list actors that include Samuel L. Jackson , Ben Mendelsohn, Don Cheadle, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Olivia Colman, and Emilia Clarke .

While the nature of Emilia Clarke's role remains under wraps from the trailer it appears that she is on Earth to help Nick Fury.

James "Rhodey" Rhodes aka The Iron Patriot will also play a major role in show and will also set up his role in the future project Armor Wars, which was also official announced at D23.

Kingsley Ben-Adir of One Night in Miami has been cast as the main villain of the show.

The series will consist of six episodes and be directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim, this series will be set in the fifth phase of The MCU, which is set to kick off next year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Secret Invasion is set to stream on Disney+ in early 2023.
