She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Kat Coiro responds to CGI backlash from fans
The first trailer for the upcoming Marvel series received backlash from fans for the shoddy CGI.
Kat Coiro who will be directing the first four episodes of She-Hulk : Attorney at Law addressed the criticism that the trailer received.
When the first trailer for the show first dropped in May, many called out the poor quality of the VFX in a few scenes.
With the recent controversy of many visual effects artists refusing to work with Marvel over difficult conditions and stringent deadlines.
It is not surprising that shows like She-Hulk which have a smaller budget ended up suffering due to Marvel's poor management.
In a recent interview with SFX, the director revealed that they are of the online criticism that the CGI received especially regarding Jennifer Walters' (Tatiana Maslany) fully-transformed appearance.
"I think a lot of the reactions have to do with the fact that she is so different than anything we’ve seen. When you think of Thanos or Hulk, they have a grisliness and a harshness and a bulkiness to them that is just so different. And when you just see a little pop of her, it’s almost shocking because we haven’t seen it before."
Coiro went on to add that she is working closely with with President of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation at Marvel Studios, Victoria Alonso to improve the quality of the CGI.
"She has such an incredible eye, and to me a lot of that eye comes from this very emotional gut reaction that she has, which is backed by decades of technical expertise," the filmmaker said of Alonso.
The second trailer for She-Hulk is expected to debut at this year's San Diego Comic-Con , which will start on the 21st of July and ends on the 24th.
The series will have nine episodes with Kat Coiro and followS lawyer Jennifer Walters who gets the same powers as The Hulk after she is accidentally exposed to Gamma radiation.
The show will have a lot of cameos from other MCU stars such as Bruce Banner(Mark Ruffalo), Emil Blonsky/the Abomination(Tim Roth) and Wong(Benedict Wong).
There are also rumors that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) will also make her MCU debut on the show
She-Hulk will stream on Disney + on August 17, 2022.
