Are Bigg Boss 16 contestants like Priyanka and Archana playing the 'woman card' against the men on the show?

As the finale of Bigg Boss 16 is approaching, the race is intensifying amongst the contestants on the show. However, one narrative that has been seen a lot this season is that some female contestants of the show like Priyanka Chahar Choudhary , Tina Datta , Soundarya Sharma , and Archana Gautam have been playing a ‘woman card’ against the men on the show. Let us analyze whether this is indeed true.

The last few episodes have seen Shiv Thakare and Shalin Bhanot having a major outburst over the treatment that they are being meted out by some of the women in the show. Yesterday (January 25)’s episode saw Archana purposely blocking the way of Shiv with her hands widespread when the latter was irked with her. She then went on to lie to Priyanka and Tina about Shiv provoking her instead during the scenario. Priyanka was then seen lashing out at Shiv when the latter explained the real incident which happened. We cannot help but wonder what would have happened if the roles were reversed or if Shiv would have gone on to push Archana in anger. The contestants and the fans would have shredded Thakare to pieces.

On the other hand, Tina claims that she is ignoring Shalin Bhanot’s existence on the show but she and Priyanka have been constantly passing remarks on him knowing that he is vulnerable right now in terms of his mental health. Again, if the roles were reversed and if two men would pass comments on a female contestant, it would have been labeled as downright harassment. However, while some men are indeed facing a tough time on the show, it should be noted that they are no saints either.

We have often seen Shiv Thakare and MC Stan making fun of the appearances of some female contestants on the show. On the other hand, Shalin Bhanot has passed derogatory remarks against Soundarya Sharma which were too crass to be mentioned on national television. He will also be making a big deal of Tina playfully spanking Priyanka and will try to show it as vulgar. So before crying out victim, the men of Bigg Boss 16 should also go back in memory lane and recall all that they have done towards the female contestants on the show.

Well, on the moral, it is to be noted that both parties have exhibited problematic behavior on Bigg Boss 16. The key is to maintain some decorum by putting across your points and actions. It will be interesting to see how long will this debate of ‘equality’ go ahead on the show.
