Confirmed! After 5 years of waiting Disha Vakani to be replaced as Dayaben on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

The news of Dayaben ’s return to the sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as teased in recent promos of the show, is no doubt a big reason to celebrate for fans who have been waiting to see the character return for the past five years. The fans have no doubt been patient, however, the maker of the show, producer Asit Modi has now confirmed that even though the character will mark its return onTaarak Mehta, it will not be played by actress Disha Vakani who made Dayaben iconic.

The producer confirmed in an interview that after five years of waiting around For Disha’s return, it has finally been decided to cast another actress for the part. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will soon see a new actress as Dayaben and Asit Modi also confirmed in an interview with Times of India that the auditions are already talking place to find an appropriate replacement.

"Dayaben, the character, is all set to return but it's not Disha Vakani. Auditions for Disha's replacement are on and there will be a new actress coming in as Dayaben soon,” Asit told the publication.

He also added that Disha never formally resigned from the show and the makers held on to the hope that she would return. The pandemic is said to have made matters more difficult and now with Disha welcoming her second born, the hopes of her return have formally been squashed.

This is the first time in five years that it has been confirmed by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah makers that the show will be getting a new Dayaben, a news which was often speculated. Disha Vakani took a break from the show after embracing motherhood in 2017 and the viewers were promised her return but years passed and the absence of her as Dayaben soon became glaring.

Over the years, names of several actresses were also speculated to have replaced Disha on the show but the makers always shut down such rumours.
