Nia Sharma recalls how her Instagram personna became an issue in her relationship with her ex: 'How is that hampering a personal equation?'

Actress Nia Sharma has revealed how she has often been judged for her bold fashion choices by not just trolls on social media but by her friends too. The Jamai Raja actress who has a strong social media presence has said that her Instagram posts have even caused troubles with a certain ex.

Nia’s fun and fashionable posts on Instgaram are major contrast to the image hat being an actor on television had set for her with shows like Ek Hazaaron Mein Behna Hai, Jamai Raja, Ishq Mein Marjawan among others. While the outspoken actress doesn’t pay much heed to trolls and if often seen firing back when someone crosses the line with her online, told Bollywood Bubble in an interview how her own friends passed comments on her red carpet looks for awards shows.

Talking about the judgmental comments passed on her looks at awards shows she said, “I was told, ‘Why do you use these weird lipsticks? It doesn’t look good. After all, you are from TV.’ Then I was told, ‘Why do you walk naked in award functions?’ Naked toh maine English mein bol diya, mujhe toh Hindi mein bola gaya tha (I said it in English but I was told this in Hindi), and by my only friends.”

Commenting further on her Instagram image getting in the way of her relationship she added, “A few times, somebody I would be seeing, they had problems with the image portrayal on social media. I did not understand, how is that hampering a personal equation? I never could understand. Social media is social media, usko wahin rehne do na yaar (let it remain that).”

Nia has over 6.9 million followers on Instagram and more than trolls she has supportive fans who love her fashionable side. The actress has on several occasions in the past however not held back from giving it back to trolls who mocked her for her choices.
