Nia Sharma says she was denied payment after work: "Have been made to beg, to cry and to plead"

For a long time now, many TV actors have claimed that they have not been paid by the makers of shows even after doing their bit. Their payments are being held back despite the actors using their talent. Back in 2020 when the pandemic had hit, Zaan Khan had talked about how the entire cast and crew of a serial he was a part of was to get payments from the makers, who had stopped responding. Even a few days back, Tirthanand Rao opened up about trying to end his life due to financial woes, and of payments being due from makers of a film, and a series. Now, Nia Sharma has opened up about the issue.

Talking to Bollywood Bubble, the Jamai Raja actress revealed begging and pleading for the money that is hers but was withheld by producers. She said, “You work your a** off and you are begging for your payments. I have gone through that and I have fought. Like, ugly fights. I was the person, call it my bachpana (childishness) or whatever, I used to stand outside the studio. ‘Until my payment is made, I will not work.’ Yes, I have given those ultimatums because there was no other way my payment was going to be made. We have been made to beg, to cry and to plead.”

But Nia made sure to get her due. She added, “I have been denied my money but I made sure that I extract that money, no matter how. I was ready that you blacklist me or don’t give me work again, I never cared about those things. Yes, I fought and fought and fought like a queen to just get my money out.”

Nia Sharma is all set to be seen in a new music video. She has been a part of the TV industry for a long time now, and has also worked in OTT.
