    The popular TV show Anupamaa is set for an 11-episode prequel that will exclusively stream on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar . The show will feature Rupali Ganguly reprising her role as Anupamaa along with the other cast of the show.

    The television show will be the first of its kind to be aired on a digital platform. The show is aimed at offering the viewers close insight into Anupamaa’s life, a few years into her marriage in an all-new format. The new episodes will be released over 11 days and will be exclusively streamed on the platform. Actor Sudhanshu Pandey will also be reprising his role as Anupamaa’s husband Vanraj in the show.

    Talking about the launch of the prequel of Anupamaa on digital space, Gaurav Banerjee, Head, Content Disney+ Hotstar said that experimenting with new formats is a norm at their digital platform and this vision has led to the genesis of a prequel of audience's favourite television show. He was quoted saying, “Following the response of our recent titles, and the avid fan following for Anupama, we took the opportunity to further deepen their connection with the character in an all-new format. We are confident that this exciting format will resonate well with India’s series-loving fandom and make the viewers fall in love with the character once again."

    For unversed, Anupamaa is a popular television show which was launched in July 2020 on Star Plus . The show has already aired over 500 episodes, which are also available on Disney+ Hotstar. Based on the popular Bengali series Sreemoyee, the show revolves around a Gujarati homemaker named Anupamaa who struggles to find her independence and voice in life. Actor Rupali Ganguly plays the titular role and has won ITA 2022’s Best Actress Popular award this year for her performance in the show.
