Shark Tank India: Anupam Mittal shares his thoughts on the 'navel shaper' pitch: 'Ek taraf naabhiyan ghoom rahi hain dimag mein ...'

Shark Tank India has its fair share of intriguing pitches which left the judges of the show surprised. However, not all surprises were pleasant ones. A pitch for a navel shaper, for example, made the ‘sharks’ laugh so hard that Ashneer Grover and Aman Gupta literally had to hide their faces with their files.

This particular Shark Tank India pitch may not have got any takers on the show for investment but it certainly went viral on social media. As the start-up founder presenting the product which was a belly button shaper asked the five sharks about their fantasies, he proclaimed that his own was a round and deep navel.

While the ‘sharks’ couldn’t help but laugh at the concept, Anupam Mittal in an interview with Siddharth Kannan shared what was going through his head when this pitch was presented on the show. Anupam who is the founder of Shaadi.com and an investor on Shark Tank India, said that when the pitcher asked them their fantasy he thought, “Maine kaha ‘arey baap re!’ aur main yahan wahan dekhne laga, maine bola isse kaam baat karo pata nahi kya dikhayega.”

He further described the pitch to the host and said when the pitcher said that he fantasised about a ‘gol and gehri naabhi’ he didn’t know how to react. “ Abhi hum haasein ki roein, kya karein samajh nahi aa raha hai,” Anupam said recalling the pitch.

He further said that when the naabhi shaper was tested on a dancer that the pitchers had brought in his head images of navels were going around. “Ek taraf naabhiyan ghoom rahi hain dimag mein, ek taraf who investment lene aaye hain, ek taraf ye nachaniya hai, yahan pe sharks haans rahe hain. Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha tha kya ho raha hai yahan pe. Matlab, I am not doing justice aapko dekhna padega.”

The anvel shaper may not have received any investment offers from the sharks, but the pitch certainly became a viral sensation online which both the sharks and the audience won’t easily get over.
