Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: Hum Paanch fame Rakhi Vijan to step into Disha Vakani's shoes as Dayaben?

Speculations have been rife about the return of the beloved character of Dayaben from the hit comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah . However, it is not Disha Vakani who will be returning back from the show but reportedly actress Rakhi Vijan who was seen as Sweety Mathur in the cult 90s sitcom Hum Paanch might be stepping into her shoes. Yes, you heard that right! It seems that fans will get a new face for the popular character of Dayaben on the show.

According to a news report in Free Press Journal, the creator of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Asit Kumarr Modi had earlier confirmed that the character of Dayaben will be returning to the show but he cannot confirm the return of Disha Vakani. The publication quoted a source to reveal, "Rakhi Vijan has been approached for essaying the role of Dayaben. Rakhi is one of the most talented actresses. She has a fine comic timing."

Needless to say, if this news is indeed true, the fans of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will miss Disha Vakani as the iconic character but Rakhi Vijan might do full justice to the role. Rakhi has earlier been part of shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh , Naagin 4 , and Banegi Apni Baat. She was also seen in the film Golmaal Returns and participated in the show Bigg Boss 2.

It was earlier reported that Asit Kumarr Modi revealed in a media interaction that the re-entry of Disha as Dayaben seems impossible and hence they are looking for a replacement. However, he had added that if by any chance she decided to make a comeback, it will surely be a grand entry. He further said that the Dayaben character cannot come overnight as she has been missing for a long time from the show.
