Comedian Kapil Sharma ’s show has landed in an unexpected controversy as filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri suggested through a tweet online the reason behind not promoting his upcoming film the Kashmir Files on The Kapil Sharma Show .

Vivek Agnihotri has been busy promoting his film these days and when a user wrote that he’d love to the film’s cast promoting the project on The Kapil Sharma Show, the filmmaker shared that they were not invited. He stated the reason behind this alleged snub to be that no ‘commercial star’ is a part of The Kashmir Files .

“They refused to call us on their show because we don’t have big commercial star. #FACT” wrote Vivek in his response to the user.

This was not the only tweet about Kapil’s show that came from Vivek Agnihotri. The filmmaker in another tweet dismissed all pleas to appear on The Kapil Sharma Show writing, “I don’t get to decide who should be invited on @KapilSharmaK9 show. It’s his and his producers choice whom he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’d say what once Mr. Bachchan was quoted saying about Gandhis: वो राजा हैं हम रंक…”

While Kapil Sharma didn’t respond to these tweets, The Kashmir Files quickly found supporters online who made a case for boycotting the show for not having the film’s cast on the show. Some even dragged in Salman Khan ’s name while voicing their opposition to the show recognizing him to be one of the producers of The Kapil Sharma Show.

The Kashmir Files is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in the early 1990’s. The movie stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Puneet Isaar in key roles and also features interviews of the first generation of victims of the exodus.

The Kashmir Files releases on March 11, 2022.
