    Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds untimely demise at the age of 46 in a car accident has left the cricket fraternity shocked around. The cricketer who has been apart of two of the country’s world Cup winning squads had several run-ins with controversy had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2012.

    However, while his sports career was seeing ups and downs, he made a guest appearance on Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt hosted Bigg Boss 5 in 2011 where he had quite an eventful stay.

    The season which was won by Juhi Parmar also housed contestants like Pooja Mishra , Sunny Leone, Pooja Bedi, Shonali Nagrani, Akashdeep Sehgal and Shakti Kapoor among others had seen Symonds entering the show for a brief period of 11 days. On the controversial reality show, Pooja Mishra was seen serving as the cricketer’s translator and had re-entered the show with him after her initial eviction.

    In a fun task, the late cricketer was seen proposing to Pooja Mishra, Shonali Nagrani and Juhi Parmar on the show and even channelled some Bollywood energy into the task by singing Aamir Khan ’s iconic ‘Aati Kya Khandala’.

    In an interview with IANS post his exit from Bigg Boss 5 , Symonds had admitted that being on the reality show made him see the importance of family and how even learnt how to cook rotis and Indian curries.

    "Stay was very good and sort of satisfying. I made a couple of new friends in Siddharth Bharadwaj, Mahek Chahal and Shonali Nagrani. I learnt plenty of things like Indian style cooking, curries and spices. I learnt how to make rotis. Had a great experience living with Indian people and learnt how sensitive and passionate they are," he had told the news agency in 2011.

    "I have learnt how important is your family, friends and simple things in life that we take for granted. It has made me appreciate what I have got," he had added.

    The cricketer also played himself in the Bollywood film Patiala House which was led by Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma in a brief appearance.

    The hugely popular cricket star Andrew Symonds died on 14 May after a single vehicle crash in Queensland state, Australia.
