Remaking an all time classic which is also done a phenomenal box office performance is like treading on a tightrope but Jeethu Joseph has remarkably pulled it off the impossible. The advantage of remaking your own movie is that one can rectify all the mistakes he/she have done in the original. Though Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam hardly had any errors, he has refined the untraceable mistakes with Papanasam.
As an actor, Kamal Haasan has proved that he can't be compared with anyone. The way Kamal majestically carries the self-made Suvayambulingam role is amazing and his unique Tirunelveli Tamil in the movie is a huge attraction. Not just Kamal, all the other actors including Gautami, the two young actors--Niveda Thomas and Esther have literally lived like a real family.
Asha Sarath who comes as the eloquent cop steals the show with her sharp expression and commendable dialogue delivery. Anant Mahadevan's climax conversation with Kamal Haasan will easily moist our eyes.
In the original, the protagonist is not emotional but here Kamal Haasan's character has been sketched in such a way that he is highly expressive which has helped the movie to establish emotional connect with the audiences.
To conclude, Papanasam is a must watch for the brilliant execution and exceptional performance by its lead actors.
