Pencil is a murky remake of Korean film that the director has literally spoiled the original story (4th Period Mystery) with amateurish performances and loud message in the climax.
First of all, director has lost his identity as he is not ethical enough to say that his film is inspired from a Korean film as he says that the story is based on true incidents. Also, unlike the original, here there is no character establishment and all the suspense are unfold much earlier that there is hardly no surprise for a film, which is being marketed as high school thriller.
GV Prakash has given us decent performance in Darling and Trisha Illana Nayanthara but as Pencil is his debut movie, we could witness a lot of flaws from his performance and Sri Divya too is a big letdown.
Shariq Haasan, son of Uma Riyaz is the only positive aspect of the movie and he has played the baddie in the movie with great elan. Overall, Pencil is a below average movie, thanks to the amateurish writing!
