if you pick the actors, who can perform well, the job is half done for the director and the film will shape out well at least in the acting department. Director Radha Mohan struck the right chord in picking the right cast, full marks to him on that aspect. The story also clicks to an extent but the screenplay wavers a bit and loses focus in between and again catches up in the end.
The plot is quite a funny one. Chandran is an aspiring film director, whose first film was a flop and his 2nd film gets dropped. He gets an offer from a businessman to make a film but the deal is to make his daughter act in the film. His daughter Maha, cannot act even at gun point. Thats a challenge for Chandran but he doesnt have a choice but to make this film to keep his family afloat. Does he make the film is the rest of the story, which is quite a fun filled ride.
I liked the one liner of the film, but the screenplay could have been more gripping. I loved the dialogues in the film. There are no complaints in the direction department as we all know how good a director is Radha mohan. Cinematography was good and editing could have been better, especially in the middle parts, where the film lost some steam.
Karunakaran was simply brilliant. He oozes with sarcasm and he is an awesome performer. Nandita did quite well as Maha, who cannot act. The supporting cast was the core strength of the film. Everyone were quite good. MS Bhaskar, Charms, MayilSami, Doubt Senthi, Daddy Saravanan, Kumaravel were totally awesome in their characters.
Overall, Uppu Karuvadu is a good entertainer with loads of comedy to keep you engaged. Give it a shot.
