Verdict - With caricatured characters & cliched story-telling tropes, Bhooloham feels as outdated as the history of boxing the films opens with.

After the massive success in Thani Oruvan, Jayam Ravi became the toast of the tinsel town overnight. Bhooloham is his fourth film of the year after three 'commercially' satisfying movies in Romeo Juliet, Sakalakala Vallavan and Thani Oruvan. 2015 has been definitely a come back year for Ravi and let's see how he is ending the year. On a high note or a fall from grace that Thani Oruvan is?

Bhooloham opens with an interesting history of boxing in North Chennai and establishes the period well. But, the promise and momentum displayed by director Kalyana Krishnan is nowhere to be found again in the screenplay, which is abound with cliches and outdated characters. Two rival boxing gangs. An elusive trophy. A well-educated, good-looking lead heroine falling head over heels for the rugged, innocent hero. The plot is outrageously familiar. And so does the film too.

Apart from the extremely brilliant stunt sequences, there is nothing to write home about in Bhooloham where SP Janananthan manages to hit it out of the park once again with his in-your-face dialogues that give audiences few hooting moments to indulge.

The director appears to have swallowed more than he could bite with a bevy of topics interspersed in the screenplay. While the connection between Sports and Media is established cleverly, the narration fails to engage thanks to the uninteresting characters and unimaginative screenplay that never comes together and allows audiences to sit through.
