Group of youngsters, desperate to fall in love, with nothing else on their mind. A smart, sometimes over-smart guy who is surrounded by not-so-good-looking friends . All this is so cliched you want to scream. While a million diffrerent love stories are possible between young couples, with permutations and combinations this movie by Saikiran Adavi is just a rehash of a rehashed story with hardly any surprises. The smart guy is obviously Ashwin Sumanth. The comedian friend thick with Srikakulam accent is Parvateesam. Even the characters are so standard - one a mama's boy with a strict mother, one a perpetually scared kid - both molded by girls they fall in love with. Obviously, because friendship is just not on the minds of our guys is it?
Anyways, if I wanted comedy through accent, Zabardasth comes free on TV and it doesn't last forever. It doesn't test my patience with climax that is bereft of emotion, twists or a different narrative. Breakups and reunions have been done to death in our movies and there is hardly anything in Kerintha that tells you otherwise. Sadly, it is not even spiced with Happy Days-like melodies or comic lines. Witty one-liners aren't exactly the strength of this movie and music is redundant and barely noticeable. The sound is very similar to SVSC track.
This mini-adventure funded by Dil Raju tries to capture the teenagers' imagination with actresses likeTejaswi Madivada and SriDivya playing the love interests of the guys. But, movie-makers need to walk out of the standard smart guy, singing songs, kissing grannies making women go weak in their knees. A look at real-life colleges, will tell you what you need to see. It will help too as our love stories will then actually start connecting. Right now it is just a pain in the behind to watch these stereotyped, remix of remix of remix versions!
