Pick some Hollywood spine-chilling thrillers; tweak the script a little and slap it with few songs and few sleazy scenes. This formula is aptly followed in the making of Kullu Manali; a film in the process of instilling fear, only manages to make the whole effort cheap and stressful.

What begins as a rather dramatic opening, where a young couple on a holiday in Kullu Manali gets axed by a masked guy dressed in a black hooded raincoat, turns tiresome when the killing gets going after the arrival of a gang of friends in Kullu Manali from Hyderabad. A group of seven friends get killed one by one by the masked killer and nobody knows the motive. Following the series of murders, Vimala Raman arrives on the scene to investigate the killing. Stranded and a killing maniac on the loose how will the rest of the friends manage to save lives form the rest of the story.

The story is clichd and the characters are boring and act as if theyve got no energy at all. If you think you can just pick a random story and fine tune for native audience then please keep in mind that there should be lot of factors that needs to be kept in mind. Mere copying or reproducing a film wont help at all; unless one puts his/her own contribution and makes it suitable for local audience, the film wont have any impact on the viewers.

The direction was totally haphazard while the other departments were equally bad. The cast did pretty much what they were expected to do. However, their performance didnt have any impact on the audience as the plot was boring and soulless. There were unnecessary songs in the film that only made the whole experience worse and unwatchable. The director tried to woo the audience by chipping in sleazy songs and scenes but to no avail.

In one line; Kullu Manali is a complete waste of time. An attempt thats worth nothing but criticism.
