Sample this… A hero with two goals - win and match and win his girl. There are oodles of mother sentiment sprinkled in the milieu. Do we need a bunch of nitwits for hero's friends. Yes, or how can you bring out the crude humor. What shall we do with the heroine? Just keep her for the eye candy and, obviously, the song and dance numbers. As I said earlier she is the main goal and the sport is kind of an excuse to get to her. This template looks as old as mountains and speaks volumes of rehashes, and that aptly sums up Seethamma Andalu Ramayya Sitralu (SARS)

When I said sport if you are expecting a Telugu-fied version of Lagaan, then this film leaves you high and dry. It beats every every good borrowing to pulp in an effort to sew a string of jokes through the narrative. We have seen movies like Kabaddi Kabaddi, so SARS is nothing out-of-box for us. If you disconnect the poorly etched cricket element, this movie would rot in the piles of stale stories.

I presume the whole concept might have looked good on paper, but the execution rushes it through awry lanes. There's also a Rajeev Kanakala-esque Sye moment that brings to fore the problems of the players to transform them into cricketing wizards. However, the heroine, who is the causative factor for this match is not to be seen around.

Raj Tarun is the tour de force of SARS. He is in his elements and you can see his usual self from Uyyala Jampala or Cinema Chupistha Mama. New comer Arthana looks promising but has little to deliver. Shakalaka Shankar keeps the momentum with this comical downpour. The other actors give an insignificant appearance as nobody gets registered properly.

The other binding forces for SARS are near classy cinematography by Vishwa DB and pulsating music and background score by Gopi Sunder. They try to make for all the losses but won't keep you glued for long as the boredom finds ways and seeps in from all the corners. Director Srinivas Gavireddy shows sparks of imagination and few scenes get you in splits. But those bits-and-pieces can't salvage a flimsy story-line that takes you through a long test of endurance.
