To start with Mahesh is a treat to watch in the movie. It’s a good family entertainer. Vamsi Paidipalli tried his best to make it a commercial flick while connecting the audience with a social message which has been doing a lot of rounds in the recent movies - Farmer’s suicides. Mahesh played safe in choosing the script since his other two blockbusters almost had the same tone and plot which got him to box office success. The cinematography was good, other than a few unnecessary shots, the movie has been a treat to the eyes. Talking about the three shades of Mahesh, as CEO of ORIGIN his character has been little exaggerated, as Rishi in the college was good and the Rishi in Ramavaram is a usual one with nothing new to offer. The whole M. Tech college episode gave me the feel of 3 idiots, except for one thing where Pooja Hedge replaced Madhavan in the role (just a thought). After the first twist in the plot where he finds out about Ravi, there is nothing thrilling to grab your attention. Everything from there seemed quite predictable and lengthy. The whole village scenarios seemed like a slightly modified version of Shahrukh Khans’ starrer Swades. Though the climax was quite obvious, it has been dragged too far which has become a negative point for the film. Overall it’s a 3-hour long movie, which could have been easily cut down around 2 hours which would have made the movie crispier.
Overall, it’s a good movie for a one time watch, but I seriously hope Mahesh selects a different script next time. For me, Sreemanthudu, Bharath Anu Nenu, and Maharshi are all of the same series.
