'But why are you hurt Canadian Kumar?': Akshay Kumar reacts to Richa Chadha's tweet on armed forces but netizens stand divided

Following Bollywood actress Richa Chadha ’s Galwan tweet, all hell broke loose on social media as people slammed her for allegedly insulting the armed forces. Even superstar Akshay Kumar condemned her saying, “Hurts to see this. Nothing ever should make us ungrateful towards our armed forces. Woh hain toh aaj hum hain (We exist because of them).” However, his reaction to the matter received mixed responses from the netizens. While some appreciated him for speaking against his own fraternity member and standing for the Indian army. A section of people pointed out his Canadian citizenship and asked him to stay from the matter.

One of the social media users hailed Akshay saying, “Not many people speak against their own fraternity, that too directly, clearly, without mincing words, even if they're grossly wrong. Thanx for this” Another commented, “Massive Respect for Akshay Kumar.” However, some criticized him. One user wrote, “Mr. Canada Kumar, Please stay out of Indian Affairs.” Another person stated, “But why are you hurt Canadian Kumar?” One of the users added, “Wo sab theek hai sirji aap wahi haina jo Canadian oath le chuke ho? This is not the first time Akshay has been trolled for holding Canadian citizenship, especially when he promotes national causes. He had explained his citizenship on several occasions saying that despite holding a Canadian passport, he pays his taxes in India. Back in 2019, he said, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy,” read an excerpt of his tweet.

Meanwhile, Richa had reacted to Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi's statement that the Indian Army is ready to execute any orders on taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Sharing his statement, the actress tweeted, "Galwan says hi." However, later she also issued an apology statement after facing backlash. Even Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa demanded a police case be registered against her for her statement on the Indian Army.
