Exclusive: Dasvi actor Abhishek Bachchan reveals why 10th boards didn’t stress him out; says ‘I enjoyed school’
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film Dasvi actor Abhishek Bachchan, who plays the role of an uneducated politician, remembered what class 10th boards were like for him as a student.

Abhishek Bachchan is undoubtedly one of the finest, most versatile actors of the Hindi film industry. No matter which character he plays, he makes sure to breathe life into it and lives it to the fullest on-screen. Well, in his next film Dasvi, AB will be seen as an uneducated politician, who has been arrested for a teacher recruitment scam. During his time in jail, Chief Minister Ganga Ram Chaudhary decides that he wants to prepare and appear for 10th board exams in order to fulfill his dreams. His path is not easy and he faces many hurdles on the way in the form of IPS Officer Jyoti Deswal, played by Yami Gautam, and his wife Bimla Devi aka Nimrat Kaur, who takes over the CM’s duties.
While Ganga Ram’s journey to pass Dasvi will be quite tough, Abhishek did not stress much during his board exams. In an exclusive interview with Desimartini, the actor revealed, “I was okay, I didn’t stress that much. I don’t take so much stress. Weirdly, the importance of it wasn’t really, never really dawned on me. So I mean, it was just another year studying, you had to do well and that was it. I enjoyed going to school, you know, I enjoy learning. Till date I love, you know, gaining new information. It’s something that really excites me, so.. As actors we are sponges, we are keen observers of life and I think that’s why you are always excited when you get to learn something new. But that’s been something that’s been you know like a trait with me since I was a kid. So I really enjoyed school. I don’t have like bad memories of school saying arre aaj kyun jaana hai.”
Abhishek went on to add, “There were particular classes that you didn’t like, you know. Physics always went over my head. But I, by large, loved going and learning. But, which is a nice subtle message in our film as well. If I may, I mean the film is not about a message and stuff, but if it is.. I say this a lot and I’ll say it here again if you don’t mind-- I say there’s a big difference between being studious and being educated. It’s better to be educated, it’s not necessary to be studious. So, I mean marks toh hum log ratt ke le aa sakte hain, but what have you learned and how are you going to use that, that’s more important. So I was admittedly never very good at examinations. It was not that I failed, I was average to above average. But I think I took out a lot more from my education than just the marks, you know. So that I think is important. Be educated. It’s not important to be studious.”
Nimrat, on the other hand, called the board exams period ‘traumatizing’. Well, we can’t wait to see how Ganga Ram Chaudhary does in Dasvi when the film premieres on Netflix on 7th April.
