'Google kar leya karo yaar': Diljit Dosanjh schools troll over his 'don't spread hate' comment at Coachella 2023

Diljit Dosanjh’s performance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2023 in California has garnered him huge popularity. He performed not once but twice and emerged to be the first Punjabi singer ever to do so. However, his latest statement during his second gig has sparked controversy, to the extent that he had to issue a clarification on Twitter.

During the performance, Diljit addressed the crowd pointing at a girl, who was holding a tricolour, and said "Eh mere Punjabi bhain bhraawan layi, mere desh da jhanda laike khadi aa kudi, eh mere desh layi, negativity ton bacho, music saareyan da saanjha (This girl is carrying my country's flag, this is for my country and everyone. Music belongs to all, don't use it to spread hate).” His statement didn’t go down well with social media users who claimed that he accused the girl of inciting hatred by waving the Indian tricolour.

Taking to Twitter, the Udta Punjab actor explained what he actually meant in his statement and asked trolls not to spread negativity. "DON'T SPREAD FAKE NEWS & NEGATIVITY! Meanwhile, on the film front, Diljit will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Chamkila co-starring Parineeti Chopra. The film is based on the life of the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Apart from this, he also has Rhea Kapoor’s film, The Crew, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Tabu.
