Mrunal Thakur starts 2022 in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19, was busy promoting Jersey the past few weeks

Actress Mrunal Thakur started New Year 2022 on a worrisome not as she took to social media to inform followers that she has tested positive for COvid-19. The Dhamaka actress spent the last few weeks of 2021 busy promoting her film Jersey with co-star Shahid Kapoor . The film was due for release on New Year’s Eve but eventually got postponed due to the rising cases on Covid 19 in the country.

Sharing an Instagram story, Mrunal wrote, "I have tested positive for COVID 19. As of today, I have mild symptoms, but I'm feeling ok and have isolated myself. I am following the protocol given by my doctor and health professionals. If you have been in contact with me, request you to please get tested immediately. Stay safe everyone!"

Mrunal had been giving interviews and making promotional appearances on shows with Shahid Kapoor for Jersey in late December . The actress isn’t the only one to have contracted Covid recently. Nora Fatehi, Rhea Kapoor , Karan Boolani, Arjun Kapoor Anshula Kapoor , Shanaya Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Khan have been among other celebrities who tested positive for Covid-19 in December 2021.

The Omicron scare became too real too quickly in the country especially in the states of Maharashtra and New Delhi. Night curfews have been imposed in several states as a preventive measure and after cinemas were shut down in Delhi, makers of Jersey wasted no time in announcing that the movie will release at a safer time.

Jersey would have been Mrunal’s third release of 2021 after Toofan and Dhamaka but the sports drama will now release in 2022. The makers of Jersey are yet to settle on a new release date.

With the looming threat of cinemas shutting down again, the fate of many upcoming films hangs in the balance yet again including S.S. Rajamouli ’s RRR which lined up for the first Friday of 2022.
