Siddhant Chaturvedi took his guitar to impress Deepika Padukone at first Gehraiyaan workshop: 'I was panicking'

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Deepika Padukone ’s chemistry in the songs and promos of Gehraiyaan has been much talked about. In Shakun Batra ’s film the two actors are seen to have a torrid affair with Siddhant’s character being engaged to Ananya Panday and Deepika being in a relationship with Dhairya Karwa .

The Gully Boy star who has succeeded in holding our attention right from his debut performance was asked about his role in Gehraiyaan and the actor revealed that initially he judged his character Zain in the film and also admitted he was panicked during his first workshop with co-star Deepika Padukone and revealed he had actually taken his guitar along to be able to impress her.

Talking about the complex nature of his role in an interview with the Free Press Journal he said, “When I signed the film, I had a sense of judgement which Shakun wanted me to take out of my system. It was my first ever workshop with Deepika, and I was panicking. Our director Shakun put us in a room, and I was nervous. I got my guitar to impress Deepika. Later, Shakun explained to me that I had to take the lead in this film, and all credit goes to Deepika. She is so simple and submits herself. She made everyone comfortable.”

Siddhant started his Bollywood journey playing a rapper in Zoya Akhtar ’s Gully Boy and not only was his performance noticed but also highly appreciated as he shined in the film despite having starry leads like Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh . The actor has also made his mark in the web space with Inside Edge while also having taken on the challenge of pulling of a sequel to Bunty Aur Babli . Gehraiyaan, however, is much more intense and emotionally demanding and the so far Siddhant seems to promise another compelling act.

While multiple times during the promotions of Gehraiyaan, the cast and Shakun Batra have spoken about the infidelity angle in the film and how they are not promoting cheating, Siddhant and Deepika’s remarkable chemistry has people rooting for the pair.

Deepika who has been in the industry for nearly 15 years now is working for the first time with the relatively new stars Ananya, Dhairya and Siddhant. Gehriayaan, however, can be a milestone film in all their careers since we haven’t seen any of them do something similar in their individual journeys.

Gehraiyaan is headed for a digital release on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
