When Farah Khan proposed to Karan Johar but was turned down due to 'technical problems'

Farah Khan and Karan Johar remain the thickest of friends and in Bollywood after having initially collaborated and clicked during the making of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The blockbuster launched Karan as a director and was Farah’s biggest film. While their friendship as we see it today is aspirational, Karan Johar had once revealed that choreographer turned filmmaker was once into him.

Karan had recalled an incident that happened during the shoot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where Farah knocked on his door citing how there was ghost in her hotel room and couldn’t sleep there.

Once on the talk show ‘Yaaron Ki Baaraat’, Karan had said that Farah was interested in him and even proposed to marry him. “Though yeh shaadi-shuda hai aur main kehna nahi chahta, Farah ne bohot koshish ki thi mere saath (Though she is married now and I don’t want to say this, Farah pursued me a lot),” the filmmaker began by saying on the show.

Narrating the incident from when he was sleeping his hotel room innocently he revealed how Farah came to his room in the middle of the night, “Beech raat ko, ek ladki jab kisi ladke ke kamre mein aa jaati hai yeh bahana leke ki mere kamre mein bhoot hai... Main kya jo bhoot se rhyme karta hai woh hoon (In the middle of the night, when a girl comes to a boy’s room claiming that there is a ghost in her room… Am I an idiot to fall for it)?”

Farah who was also present on the show revealed how she had also proposed to Karan but he turned her down citing ‘technical problems’. The filmmaker explained, “Television ka tower bhi chalna chahiye, so I said iss TV ko off hi kar do. That is why maine bol diya no (The television tower needs to work as well, so I said let’s just turn off this TV. That is why I said no).”

Well, Farah and Karan remain the closest friends who went on to work together on several ocaassion and have once again reunited for his next Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani for which Farah will be choreographing songs.
