‘Woman, actor and Indian’: Sara Ali Khan talks about representing words which define her at Cannes Film Festival

Star kid, Bollywood actress and rising star Sara Ali Khan is a delight to watch on-screen because of her impactful performances. But another reason why she’s so popular amongst fans is Sara’s ability to pull off any style with ease. She can effortlessly slay no matter what outfit she decides to wear– bikinis, chikankari kurtas or even lavish gowns. But for her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, Sara decided to make heads turn by channeling her inner desi girl in a hand embroidered ivory lehenga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.

Sara looked like a princess as she redefined royalty, making the country proud as ever. The beautiful star kid went on to leave us in awe in a monochrome halter neck blouse embellished with crystals and beads, paired with what looked like a modern take on a saree. In a recent interview with PTI, the actress opened up about her outfit and debut at the prestigious film festival. She was quoted saying, “I think it's important to promote 'Indianness'. We are such a culturally rich country. We have so many languages, emotions and so much depth and I'm proud to be able to talk about it on a global platform.”

The Kedarnath star went on to share, “I was invited by the Indian pavilion (at Cannes) and I was also invited by the Red Sea Film Festival people who invited me there to celebrate women both behind the camera and in front of the camera.” Sara further explained that she is glad she got to represent three words which she believes define her– ‘woman’, ‘actor’ and ‘Indian’.

On the work front, Sara is currently busy gearing up for her much awaited romantic comedy Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, co-starring Vicky Kaushal. The film will arrive in theatres on 2nd June.
