Jayeshbhai Jordaar box office prediction: In the era of larger than life heroes, will Ranveer Singh's comedy sink or swim?

Ranveer Singh ’s ‘estrogen fuelled’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar is all set for arrival in cinemas on Friday to challenge the ‘testosterone fuelled’ films which seem to be the flavour of the season. The movie will be Ranveer’s second attempt at entertaining the audience in cinemas in the post-pandemic era after the box office failure of ’ 83 .

While the actor has devoted a significant amount of time promoting the movie, Jayeshbhai Jordaar seems to have a few takers if predictions by trade experts are anything to go by. The trend of larger than life cinema is back with a bang and in these times, Bollywood A-listers seems to be repeatedly trying and failing at getting the audience to pay attention to their long delayed projects.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is currently low on advance bookings and seems to be eyeing a low opening of Rs. 3-4 crores. The movie based on the theme ‘Save the girl child’ has Ranveer playing a father who goes to extreme lengths to save his unborn daughter from his family who only seem to want a boy child.

The film is mix of social messaging and humour, a formula which has been a big hit with Bollywood fans in recent years. However, the uncertainty of the post-pandemic era makes it hard to determine if Jayeshbhai Jordaar with its ‘hatke hero’ will manage to divert the audience’s attention from big ticket films like K.G.F. Chapter 2 and Marvel ’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which are still going strong in cinemas.

So far, Akshay Kumar ’s Bachchhan Paandey , John Abraham’s Attack, Ajay Devgn ’s Runway 34, Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2, Shahid Kapoor ’s Jersey have all tried and failed in getting the audience to pack cinema halls. The question remains whether Ranveer’s film will join this growing list of Bollywood flops or sail through by attaining a strong word of mouth based on its content.
