Rani Mukerji's Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway performs poor but still races ahead of Kapil Sharma's Zwigato at box office

Amid Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar's stronghold, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway and Zwigato couldn’t make any major impact at the box office on the opening day. Despite positive reviews from critics, as well as Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, and Katrina Kaif among others, Rani Mukerji ’s film, failed to impress the audience. On the first day, the emotional drama witnessed lesser footfalls, collecting only Rs 1.5 crores. Though opened to limited screens, Kapil Sharma ’s movie also got only a few takers at the ticket counters on the opening day.
Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is based on the true story of an Indian couple whose children’s custody has been taken by Norwegian welfare services. Rani plays the role of a mother who fights against all odds to get back the custody of her children. Directed by Ashima Chibber, the film also has Anirban Bhattacharya and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. According to trade experts, the film’s collection may gain momentum over the weekend after a decent word of mouth. Rani’s last release Bunty Aur Babli 2 opened with Rs 2.60 crore relatively better, but it eventually tanked at the box office.
On the other hand, Zwigato, revolves around the struggle of a middle-class man who was forced to take food delivery job during pandemic. Helmed by Nandita Das, Kapil and Shahana Goswami starrer movie lags behind Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. It could manage to earn only Rs 40 lakh in the opening day. As per reports from Sacnilk, the film had only 5.98 percent occupancy in the Hindi market.
Meanwhile, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, continues to making molaah at the box office. In its second week, the film is inching towards entering the Rs 100 crore club. As per reports, the film has earned Rs 95.88 crore on the box office, so far.
