Ranveer Singh talks about Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani; describes the Alia Bhatt starrer as ‘vintage Karan Johar’
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Bollywood films at the moment. Not only does it bring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt back together on-screen, but also marks Karan Johar’s first directorial in 6 long years.

After winning our hearts with their performances as well as their fresh on-screen chemistry in Zoya Akhtar ’s Gully Boy , Bollywood’s livewire Ranveer Singh and the phenomenal Alia Bhatt are reuniting in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani . Also starring veteran stars Dharmendra , Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi , the much awaited family dramedy marks Karan Johar ’s return to the director’s chair after his 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil . Well, Ranveer has now revealed what the film is all about and has also shared that it is 60 per cent complete.
In a report shared by Bollywood Life, the actor was quoted saying, “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is a quintessential Karan Johar movie, it's vintage Karan Johar, everything that you love about his films – the songs, the glamour, the good-looking leads, the family dynamics, the pulpy drama, the humour, the romance, it's all packed in there; every trope you've seen in Karan Johar movies, his brand of cinema you have loved – all there.”
Ranveer further piqued our interest when he added that it has been eons since a film like this has released, and described the genre as ‘all about loving your family’. Maybe a modern day Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham ? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch. But Ranveer promises that Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is going to be the filmmaker’s quirkiest, zaniest film till date and is glad it shaped up well. If reports are to be believed, the movie is based on the concept of a rich boy played by Ranveer falling in love with a middle-class girl portrayed by Alia.
Other than the lead stars and incredible supporting cast, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will also feature special cameos by Shah Rukh Khan , Kajol , Sara Ali Khan , Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday .
