Shraddha Kapoor to reprise her role in Stree prequel, filming begins in August

After completing Luv Ranjan’s untitled film, actress Shraddha Kapoor will begin shooting for the prequel of the 2018 hit film Stree . Produced by Dinesh Vijan 's Maddock Films , the film is expected to go on floors by August 2022.

Shraddha is currently in Spain with Ranbir Kapoor for a romantic comedy-drama helmed by Luv Ranjan. Amid her shooting, the actress has apparently signed producer Dinesh Vijan-backed prequel wherein she will be reprising the role of Stree. The forthcoming film will reportedly trace the journey of Stree before she lands in Chanderi.

Recent reports suggest that Dinesh has planned to build a cinematic universe around his horror comedies, Stree, Roohi, and upcoming Bhediya. So his team has decided to expand the universe by producing second parts of these movies to establish the lead characters before they start crossing paths in each story. The production house is beginning with Stree’s prequel which will be helmed by Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar. To note, Bhediya is an upcoming horror comedy starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.

“Vijan’s next film in the MHCU tells the backstory of the girl who came to Stree and the complications she brought along. It's a prequel to 'Stree' and will see Shraddha reprising her role from the 2018 sleeper hit." a source told Peepingmoon.com. For the unversed, Stree is the horror-comedy drama that starred Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khuranna in prominent roles.

Meanwhile, Shraddha was last seen in the 2020 action thriller film, Baaghi 3, which also featured Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, and Ankita Lokhande . After a break of two years, she will be seen sharing the screen space with Ranbir for the first time in Luv Ranjan’s upcoming rom-com.
