Some of them also pointed out that Sooraj Barjatya is following the footsteps of Karan Johar , who has been often targeted for promoting nepotism by launching star kids like Alia Bhatt , Varun Dhawan , Ananya Panday , and Janhvi Kapoor among others. “@rajshri films on foot steps of @DharmaMovies @NGEMovies ... nepotism truly rocks !!,” wrote a Twitter user. “No Need to have this Nepo Product. Be it movie, cast, directors.! Better to conserve money, not to waste like this.!,” suggested another.

A few days ago, the nepotism debate was reignited by Zoya Akhtar ’s upcoming Netflix film, The Archies. The noted filmmaker dropped the teaser introducing a new generation of star kids- Shah Rukh Khan ’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan ’s grandson Agastya Nanda and late Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. While several fans expressed their excitement for the film based on the popular comic book, several others called out Bollywood for putting the spotlight on star kids.
