Aamir Khan backs Hansal Mehta’s Shahid through Facebook

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is very much obliged to Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, as Aamir Khan has decided to support his upcoming film based on a true story. The trailer of the film entitled Shahid can now be seen on official Facebook page of Aamir. The executive director of Disney UTV, Shikha Kapur commented, "We are really happy that our next, `Shahid`, is touching the heartstrings ofthe entire industry. It`s a proud moment for team Shahid that Aamir decided to back the trailer by hosting it on his Facebook page.”

She added to her statement, “This is truly a warm gesture from him and we are proud of the film and the trailer and truly thankful to Aamir for having supported it. `Shahid` is surely a film to watch out for and with people like Aamir supporting the film, it will give the film that has been acclaimed the world over, the attention it thoroughly deserves." The film was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2012, New York Indian Film Festival and Indian Film Festival of Stuttgart.

Produced by Anurag Kashyap along with Sunil Bohra and UTV Spotboy, Shahid is a true story of Shahid Azmi, who was a human rights activist and lawyer. He was murdered in 2010 by his anonymous office people. Shahid covers all aspects of his personal life from aiming to be a terrorist to a human rights specialist. This film has won Hansal the best director award at New York Indian Film Festival and at Indian Film Festival of Stuttgart. The flick is scheduled to release on October 18.
