ABCD 2 becomes the biggest opener of the year

The Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ABCD 2 minted more than Rs. 45 crores in its opening weekend, making the film to be the highest grosser of the year. The dance film collected Rs. 14.30 crores on the first day of its release. On Saturday the collection was Rs. 14.58 crores while on Sunday the collection was around Rs. 16 crores.

ABCD 2 has taken the first spot replacing Akshay Kumar starrer Gabbar is Back,  topping the opening weekend box office collection. The first day collection of Gabbar is Back was Rs. 13.05 crores.  The contrasting fact is that Gabbar is Back released around 3000 screens while ABCD 2 released only across 2500 screens in India. On the other hand, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which was also a great hit, minted Rs. 38.15 crores in its opening weekend.

The sequel of ABCD (2013) is expected to top the box office charts in coming weeks. Despite of the monsoon, the film has done an impressive business. Directed by Remo D’Souza the film also stars choreographer Prabhu Deva.
