Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha Is Almost Similar To This Gujarati Film!
Updated : November 11, 2016 05:03 PM IST It is now a known fact that ace film editor Shree Narayan Singh is coming with his first directorial venture that has a very unique title, Toilet Ek Prem Katha. In fact, it has already gotten on the floors. But do you know that the storyline of the Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar’s film is almost similar to that of a Gujarati film, Narayandas Pay And Use (NPAU), to be helmed by director Krishnadev Yagnik.
Reportedly, both the films are aimed at assisting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. Both the films revolves around the pay-and-use toilet scheme and will discourage people in cities and towns from defecating in open. And the last factor that makes Toilet Ek Prem Katha similar to the Gujarati film is the love twist of both the films. In the movies, the owner of the P&U toilet falls in love with a slum girl. Now the question remains, who has copied whose story?
According to Yagnik, he has written the story of NPAU five years ago. But since he had started making another film Days Of Taafree, he had put NPAU to hold. When asked if he wants to fight against the makers of Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Yagnik said, “I can’t fight the people who are making that film. They are too big for me. And to be fair, I have never narrated the story to any of the people connected to Toilet Ek Prem Katha. Also, maybe just the concept is the same - the story is different. It’s a director’s vision and it all depends how he spins his story”.
He futher added, “chalta hai… Aisa hota hai kabhi kabhi… (It’s ok… it happens sometimes) I can’t blame them (the makers). Also, my film will be in Gujarati meant for different audiences”. Well, let’s see what Akshay and Shree Narayan have to say about this matter. Stay connected to Desimartini for further updates!
