Amitabh, Shoojit Question The Doube Standards Of Society

Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Pink’ has ignited the fire that is the double standards present in the society. The movie raises questions on the perception of women in today’s society. During a promotional press conference, the director pointed out that only women are asked if they are virgins.

“Asking women ‘are you a virgin?’ is a strong statement, but we never ask the men about the same”, said Shoojit. Amitabh Bachchan, who was also present during the conversation, said, “If you are asking a woman, ‘are you a virgin?’ then you should ask the same to men”. The director also explained the tone of his film and said that it has its own language.

He shared that because he has grown up in urban areas, he understands them and tries to bring that understanding to his filmmaking. ‘Pink’ stars Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi and Andrea Tariang, along with Amitabh. The movie just hit the screens and has received largely positive reviews.
