Anurag Kashyap To Repay Bombay Velvet’s Costs To Producers, Distributors
Updated : April 06, 2016 11:02 AM IST Anurag Kashyap’s dream project Bombay Velvet couldn’t hit the right chords with the audiences and hence it turned out to be a disaster at the box office, incurring huge loses. The director has decided to repay the cost to producers and distributors of the Ranbir-Anushka starrer flick, namely Phantom Films and Fox Star Studios. Indeed, that’s a brave decision.
Anurag had been earlier quoted as saying, “My own partner told me that I had made a Rs 90-crore art film and a lot of people had issues with that. I have to live with the burden of losing all that money for the rest of my life. That gives me nightmares”.
Phantom co-founder Madhu Mantena has declined to comment on the news but at the same time said that the producer will stand by what is right. Conversely, a spokesperson from Phantom films has confirmed the news. The source told Mumbai Mirror, “We are beginning with a sum of Rs 10 crore and hope to repay most of the money by the year-end”.
